Hey! It's me again.

I am really enjoying life without a cast! My leg is all better and I am regaining my strength. I get kind of tired in the backyard but boy is it fun! I always wondered where all the other dogs were going out the back door. I love to lay on my back and put my legs in the air. It just doesn't get any better than this, and it is much easier without a cast (see below). I love to play but I also love to just hang out with my people. I am ready for my forever home, are you?

My new cast

Quiet time.

Am I spoiled or what?

I can really get around well in my cast but I like all this attention :)

Week 2 of Recovery

This week, King Bird has continued to progress and is able to walk almost normally despite his cast. He has been able to go up the stairs and is nearly as energetic as before his surgery. King Bird plays well with our other dogs and enjoys spending time with our family. At this rate, King Bird will surely be a great pet for someone in no time.

King Bird Begins the Road to Recovery

WW's King Bird: First Day Home

Yesterday, King Bird came home from surgery and began the road to recovery following surgery to repair his Achilles tendon. However, following the surgery, King Bird will have a full recovery ahead of him, with remnants of the injury all but gone. Despite six weeks ahead in a hard cast, King Bird remains in high spirits and is playful as ever.

Settling In

King has survived two days home alone while I'm at work. He's happy to see me return, but seems to be handling the separation well.

He made a new friend on our walk this morning when a neighbor said hello. King was very polite (no barking or growling), but did seem a little shy. He enjoyed the extra ear scratches! With more interaction I think he will open up a bit.

King loves tossing around his toy squirrel and sometimes takes it on walks with us. He is so proud of his prey!

New Foster Home

WW's King Bird came to stay with me Saturday as a foster dog!  He is happy to be out of the shelter and settling into apartment life.  We're having fun exploring the grounds around the complex.

"King" does great on a leash.  He only pulls when he really has to use the restroom, but otherwise walks right alongside me.  Happily, he hasn't had any accidents inside.  We'll start working on learning some tricks soon!

King is very inquisitive and likes to very carefully check out his surroundings; he makes sure not to disturb anything though!  The most curious experience has been trying to meet the other dog in the mirror....maybe one day they'll get to play together.

The adjustment period was short; he loves to look out the window but otherwise finding a good spot to nap is his favorite activity.  Today he was content to hang around outside while I washed my car.

King is looking forward to the day when he has a family to love and a home to call his own!  He has so much love to give and is ready for the right home.
